Walk a Mile in Her Veil (2016) is an introspective exploration of Arab identity through the lens of the veil and its wearer. Developed through in-depth research into the cultural, social, economic, and feminist reasons women choose to wear the veil, the work invites visitors to physically try it on and walk around in it—transforming observation into embodied experience. By doing so, it challenges preconceived notions and encourages empathy, understanding, and dialogue around the multiplicity of meanings the veil holds. The piece was first exhibited at the Royal College of Art Degree Show, then shown at Walking Women (Somerset House, London) and Skandal Normal (OK Centrum, Linz).
