Yasmeen Sabri

Yasmeen Sabri is an artist, experience designer, and cultural consultant based in Amman, Jordan. Working across painting, sculpture, installation, and immersive environments, her multidisciplinary practice explores the tension between societal expectations and self-expression, and the space where identity is negotiated. Rooted in material exploration and performative making, her work treats creation as a dialogue with matter—one that allows materials to resist, react, and evolve beyond their prescribed roles.

Her practice is process-led and embodied, engaging acts of tearing, assembling, disrupting, and reconfiguring surfaces. Through these gestures, Sabri frees materials from traditional obligations and considers how heritage, memory, and contemporary life intersect within the body and the built environment. Many of her works invite audience participation or situate the viewer within experiential settings, emphasizing interpretation, presence, and collective encounter as central components of the work.

Sabri holds a BA in Fine Arts from Central Saint Martins, London (2014), and an MA in Information Experience Design from the Royal College of Art (2016). Alongside her artistic practice, she has worked extensively as a producer, advisor, and cultural strategist, delivering major cultural initiatives across the Levant and GCC, including Noor Riyadh Festival, Amman Design Week, and Alserkal Avenue.

Her work has been exhibited internationally at venues including Somerset House, Sonar Festival, and Wadi Finan Gallery, and has been featured in publications such as Dezeen, Forbes, Monocle, and the London Feminist Film Festival. Through material investigation and audience-centered experiences, Sabri continues to examine the evolving relationship between heritage, contemporary culture, and the freedom to become.
